Dear FENS Students,

As of 2020-2021 Fall semester, the SU credits for IE 402 (Integrated Manufacturing Systems) will be reduced from 4 to 3. To prevent this change from requiring students to take an additional core course, we developed the following solution. 

- In Fall and Spring semesters of 2020-2021 academic year, we will offer a  "one-SU credit course IE 398"  that can only be taken together with IE 402. This course cannot be taken alone.
- Students who planned to get 4 credits will take IE 402 (3 credits) together with IE 398 (1 SU credit). Other students can take IE 402 alone (3 credits), without IE 398.
- IE 398 will be offered by Taner Tunç hoca, who also teaches IE 402. Its contents will be defined by Taner hoca as complimentary to IE 402; however, IE 398 will be a separate course from the letter grading perspective. Student's letter grade in IE 398 will be based on his/her performance in IE 398 alone, independent of his/her letter grade in IE 402.
- IE 398 will only be offered in Fall and Spring semesters of 2020-2021 academic year. It will not be offered afterwards. Please consider this if you were planning to take the prerequisite courses ENS 209 and IE 309 just to be able to take IE 402.
